Upon the recent death of Logemann Bros. Co. President and CEO Carl H. Dieterle, the Milwaukee-based manufacturer of scrap processing systems has transitioned to the fourth generation of family ownership.

Co-owner John Lee serves as president and CEO of the company, while Barbara Gasper and Carolyn Lee also have ownership stakes.

For more than 140 years, Logemann Brothers has manufactured balers, shears and briquetters for customers around the globe.

John Lee says, “We are proud to continue the Logemann tradition of providing exceptional quality USA-built machines that last far beyond each generation.”

He adds that Logemann is committed to continued investment in its manufacturing processes and workforce and to servicing its worldwide customer base.

As part of the transition, the new owners of Logemann Bros. are contacting baler owners to learn the scrap processing business and understand the needs of its customers. Feb. 3, the leadership team visited Irwin Sheinbein, owner of American Metals Co., at the company’s Mesa, Arizona, branch. Joining them was Eddie Mendelsohn of ESM Equipment Services of California.

Sheinbein owns a 40-year-old Logemann 245 AT baler and claims, “It runs every day, nonstop for us. Logemann makes balers that last.”

American Metals processes all types of scrap metals across its three yards and has plans to acquire a second Logemann baler from Eddie Mendelsohn of ESM Equipment.

Mendelsohn says, “I would rather sell a used Logemann baler because I know the company makes long-lasting balers and stands behind them with good service.”

Inquiries into Logemann equipment can be directed to Vice President of Sales Mike Gasper at 303-506-3821 or Vice President of Operations Tom Kullinger at 414-445-3005. The company’s leadership team also will be at the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Convention & Exhibition in Nashville in April.
